WATCH: First Trailer of Robert Pattinson As Bruce Wayne In The Batman

It has been a struggle for Matt Reeves’ The Batman to make it to theaters. There were post-Justice League woes from the production side of things and had to be reworked from the Ben Affleck Batman to Pattinson’s. Then COVID-19 hit while the shooting was underway. The production has since then been shut down and the release date delayed. The Batman has resumed shooting and it now has a release date and will premiere in October 2021.

Fans have still been keeping the Bat-Signal lit and holding out hope for the project. They’ve been rewarded with the first official trailer for the movie. The trailer was dropped at this weekend’s DC FanDome and through we’ve already seen Pattinson in the Bat suit, this is our first opportunity to get a glimpse at him fully donning the bat suit and in action. The footage we see if incredible and way different from previous Batman films.

There are sky-high expectations set for the project by Warner Bros. and we’ve learned that The Sopranos produce Terence Winter, as well as Reeves, are teaming up to create a police procedural spinoff set with the film’s universe for HBO Max. They’ve gone on the describe it as an opportunity to expand the world established in the movie.

Whether or not The Batman is a hit or miss, the rumors are still spreading around who will be Pattinson’s universe’s Joker. There have also been hints at a newly multiversal DCEU where we may even get a chance to see Michael Keaton’s Batman paying a visit to this certain Gotham City. We’ll also get to see Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight in The Flash and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Meanwhile, in the virtual realm we’ve got Gotham Knights game and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League to look forward to. Both games will follow the celebrated Arkham series. They both look stunning so far.

Although the future is still a bit uncertain, one thing’s for sure: the 2020s will be the decade of The Batman.
