Good Omens Season 2: Release Date, Trailer Cast Changes

Since the first season’s release, fans of Good Omens have been crying out for Good Omens Season 2 to be released. So when can we expect the series to hit our screen, and what are the updates on Good Omens Season 2? We have everything you need to know below.

What is Good Omens about?

Good Omens follows a demon named Crowley, played by David Tennant, and an Angel called Aziraphale, played by Micheal Sheen. They are friends who have gotten used to a comfortable life on earth in 2018 and are enjoying their roles as representatives for Heaven and Hell. The pair want to prevent the coming of the Antichrist, which would bring about Armageddon and the last battle between heaven and hell.

The show is based on the 1990 book by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman with which it shares the same name. It was a joint production between Amazon and BBC with the first six-episode mini-series written by Gaiman. The show has a heavy-hitting cast and includes big names such as David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Miranda Richardson, Adria Arjona, Jack Whitehall, Michael McKean, Jon Hamm, and Frances McDormand as the voice of God.

The first season of Good Omens was released on Amazon in mid-2019 and later aired on a weekly BBC schedule in early 2020. How about Good Omens Season 2? Is a second season looking likely?

Where Did Season 1 Of Good Omens Finish Up?

Spoiler Alert!

In the last episode of Good Omens, we find out that Armageddon has been indefinitely postponed! The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have broken apart, and Adam is no longer the Antichrist. Beelzebub and the Angel Gabriel also returned to Heaven and Hell to nurse their wounds on top of that.

However, the show takes a wild turn, which Gaiman himself added in. While eating ice cream, the protagonists are kidnapped and taken to their respective domains. Their bosses aren’t best pleased. Aziraphale is sentenced to death by fire, while Crowley is set to be dipped into Holy Water. However, it doesn’t go as planned, and both are immune to the punishments set forth. But how? Well, it turns out they switched bodies!

Why has Good Omens Season 2 been delayed?

Knowing Gaiman and his propensity for storytelling means he has got more left in the tank for Good Omens Season 2. Fans are still eagerly awaiting an official update, and unfortunately, we are too! Gaiman was switched back and forth about a second installment, which indicates he is likely waiting on approval from the powers that be.

2020 is looking like a write off for Good Omens Season 2 mainly because the pandemic shut down production of every major show and then delayed those still in the pipeline. Some patience is going to be needed while the entertainment industry gets back on its feet after the impact of Coronavirus.

What is Good Omens Season 2 about?

Micheal Sheen and David Tenant had incredible onscreen chemistry in the first season, and fans are eager to see them in action again. Good Omens Season 2 will showcase Crowleys and Azirafle’s friendship in more detail. We also saw Crowley predict the next great war, and with management so annoyed about the pair stopping it last time, we are likely going to see another attempt.

The all-star cast is set to reprise their roles in the second season of the show and will see Michael Sheen as Aziraphale, David Tennant as Crowley, Jon Hamm as Gabriel, Jack Whitehall as Newton Pulsifer, Sam Adria Arjona as Anathema Device, Taylor Buck as Adam Young, Michael McKean as Shadwell, Miranda Richardson as Madame Tracy, and Frances McDormand as the voice of God.

Thankfully, there will be none of the significant cast changes which had been speculated because of filming conflicts following COVID.

We know many of you are dying to get a sneak peek of the second season, but there isn’t an official trailer out yet. So instead, we have included the best onscreen moments from the first season. Enjoy!

Good Omens Season 2: Release Date

BBC and Amazon have not yet confirmed the release date for Good Omens season 2. However, with such a successful first season, a second installment seems very likely. Neil Gaiman wants to continue the story, and he is both the co-writer and producer, so the signs are looking positive. The only thing that I am worried about is Gaiman’s schedule. He has another hit show, American Gods, also airing at the moment. But realistically, Good Omens Season 2 is likely to hit our screens in 2021.
